ABB CP switch-mode power supplies provide DC power for automation, control equipment and distribution panels. This page covers the existing CP-S.1, CP-PX and CP-D references, which have different output ranges, installation formats and selection requirements.

Search by complete model or product code below. Confirm the input supply, load demand and exact product documentation before choosing a unit; an empty code field must be verified before ordering.

Applications & Power-Supply Selection

Choose the power supply around the load and installation rather than the CP name alone. ABB documents CP-S.1 for industrial automation and machine-building applications, CP-D in a modular DIN-rail format for installation and distribution panels, and CP-PX flat power supplies for applications including PLC control and machinery.

Ranges in the Existing Model List

  • CP-S.1: the existing list contains 24 V DC models. ABB documents single-phase CP-S.1 output-current variants of 3, 5, 10, 20 and 40 A. Check the specific input range, load capability and temperature derating; CP-S.3 and CP-S.DC are separate ranges.
  • CP-D: ABB lists 12 and 24 V DC outputs in its modular DIN-rail range. The documented family has 0.42, 0.83, 1.3, 2.1, 2.5 and 4.2 A variants; output current and voltage are model-specific, not selectable independently.
  • CP-PX: a flat switch-mode power-supply range. ABB documentation for CP-PX 24/4.5 / 1SVR427091R0040 confirms 24 V DC / 4.5 A output and 115/230 V AC input selection by switch. That input arrangement must not be assumed for other CP models.

Electrical & Installation Checks

Specify input voltage and AC/DC supply, required DC output, continuous and starting load, operating temperature and available installation space. Check the model-specific derating curve, mounting orientation, ventilation clearances and terminal requirements. A nominal output rating does not guarantee full output under every temperature or installation condition.

For CP-PX 24/4.5, ABB describes screw mounting or DIN-rail mounting with the specified accessories. Do not assume the same mounting method or included accessories for every unit. Parallel operation, redundancy and buffer arrangements require the documented circuit and suitable modules.

Standards & Version Boundaries

Use the declaration, certificate and instruction sheet for the exact model and revision. ABB publishes model-by-model approvals; a mark or approval on one CP unit must not be extended to the entire family. UL listing or recognition, Class 2 output limits, marine approval and hazardous-location approval require separate confirmation for the required application.

The ABB CP-PX 24/4.5 regional data sheet identifies EN 62368-1 electrical safety requirements. This does not establish that every CP-PX, CP-S.1 or CP-D version has identical standards or approvals. CPX and CPX-C are control-and-protective switching devices, not CP power-supply subseries.
