CLMD units are low-voltage power capacitors for power-factor correction, rather than energy meters or harmonic filters by themselves. ABB technical literature describes dry, self-healing metallized-polypropylene construction. The existing references include CLMD13, CLMD33/33S, CLMD43, CLMD53, CLMD63 and CLMD83 designations; dimensions, terminals and ratings must be verified for the full reference.

Ratings must be read together

A capacitor’s kvar output is specified at a stated voltage and frequency. A nominal kvar value alone is insufficient for ordering. Confirm the capacitor rating and the intended network conditions, including whether it will operate with a detuning reactor. Do not transfer an enclosure rating, temperature limit or mounting condition from one CLMD type to all types.

Detuned compensation requires a coordinated capacitor/reactor design. A capacitor should not be selected solely from the name of an existing bank or an assumed harmonic-filtering benefit.
