ABB SmartPQF active power filters address harmonic currents, reactive power and three-phase load imbalance in industrial and commercial distribution systems. Selection depends on measured power-quality needs and the complete module configuration. The existing model and code list below is retained for identification and quotation.

ABB SmartPQF Active Power Filters

Key Features

Filtering and compensation duties

Non-linear loads such as variable-speed drives can introduce harmonic currents. SmartPQF is an active filtering product, with reactive-current and load-balancing functions according to the selected configuration. It is distinct from CLMD passive capacitors and from SmartPQS static var generators. Filtering current in amperes and reactive compensation in kvar describe different duties.

Module and configuration boundaries

ABB’s SmartPQF Rev D catalogue lists 50 A, 100 A and 150 A module capacities, rack-mounted and wall-mounted forms, and three-wire and four-wire system configurations. These are catalogue options, not specifications shared by every listed model. The catalogue also describes different grid-voltage versions; confirm the complete reference and supply rating before selection.

The table retains V0, V1, V2, V3 and PQHMI references. Historical versions are not assumed to share firmware, ratings or accessories. PQHMI is an interface/control reference rather than an additional filter-current rating. Documentation and configuration must be verified by complete product code.

Information for system selection

  • Provide system voltage, frequency, three-wire or four-wire arrangement and relevant transformer or supply details.
  • Identify the connected loads, operating profile, harmonic spectrum and measured currents at the intended compensation point.
  • Define the objective: harmonic reduction, reactive compensation, load balancing or a combination. Capacity allocation and the resulting performance depend on the project.
  • Confirm CT ratio, location, phase assignment and wiring according to the applicable installation instructions.
  • Specify mounting, available enclosure space, ventilation, ambient conditions, altitude and required protection degree.
  • Confirm module quantity, controller and communication requirements. Use version-specific wiring and standards documentation; no universal compliance or guaranteed site THD result is implied.

Send the complete model and ABB code, quantity and destination country. For system sizing, include the supply details, measured power-quality report, load profile, CT information and proposed installation arrangement. For existing equipment, add nameplate photos and the controller/module versions. Unconfirmed historical parameters or replacement relationships require documentation checks.
